The attic door swung open with a bang, and Chloe practically hurled herself inside. Sunlight streamed in, momentarily banishing the gloom. She’d always loved the idea of old houses and the stories they held. And this… this was the best part.

She inhaled sharply, a shiver of delight tracing down her spine. The air was thick with the scent of aged paper and wood. A cardboard box sat front and center.

She snatched it up, her fingers fumbling with the taped seams. Inside, wrapped in tissue paper, was a collection of vintage photographs. She could barely contain her glee. She held one up to the light, already imagining the tales they held.
