"Finally!" Maria declared, her voice filled with an almost tangible energy. She practically flew up the narrow attic stairs, the flashlight beam bouncing off the cobwebs. The idea of forgotten things was utterly captivating.

She stopped at the threshold of the attic. Dust motes danced in the slivers of sunlight. She took a deep breath.

There, tucked away in a corner, was a child’s toy chest. She rushed towards it, her fingers already reaching for the latch. What treasures would it hold? She could barely stand the wait.
