The house had a history, that much Ben knew. He'd spent days studying the architectural plans, poring over old photographs. He knew there was something *else* here. And he had a hunch about the old fireplace.

He tapped on the brick, listening to the solid echo of stone. Then, he found a loose brick near the hearth. He wiggled it free, revealing a small hole. He dug his fingers in, exploring blindly.

A hidden latch. His breath hitched. With a firm push, a section of the fireplace groaned open, revealing a dusty passage. Ben dove inside, keen with anticipation.
