Clara tapped her foot impatiently, the polished floor reflecting the flickering candlelight. She'd spent all afternoon picking out the perfect dress, a silk number that whispered against her skin. This was it – the culmination of weeks of secret smiles and stolen glances. She’d even bought a new perfume, something she knew he would adore. The restaurant, a dimly lit Italian place, was exactly what she pictured for this special occasion.

The restaurant door opened, and a man with kind eyes and a charming smile entered. She practically felt her stomach flutter. He was carrying a single red rose. “David!” she practically sang, her voice breathless. She felt a flush spread across her cheeks as he approached.

"Hey, David," a woman behind her, her voice laced with surprise, called out. Clara turned, her excitement abruptly cooling. The woman, with a familiar mischievous glint in her eyes, rushed over and kissed the man on the lips. Her stomach dropped.
