David couldn't sit still. The letter lay open on his coffee table, the words "half-brother" blurring before his eyes. He’d just learned that a brother existed. A whole other person who shared his genetics, his history. He felt a nervous tension tightening his muscles.

He jumped up and began to clean his apartment, a frantic flurry of dusting and wiping. Then, he paced from room to room. He felt restless, charged with an unfamiliar and powerful current. He needed to know everything about this person, the details of his life.

He pulled up social media, but hesitated to scroll. He had to be careful, he realized, but even knowing this filled him with a strange joy. He quickly composed an email to the lawyer. He had to begin the process, the road to meeting his sibling.
