The email notification popped up, its fluorescent glow a stark contrast to the dim library. Sarah’s fingers, usually steady, fumbled with the mouse. She had been waiting for this decision for weeks. A nervous knot had resided in her stomach, a constant companion. Now, as the words "We regret to inform you..." materialized on the screen, that knot completely vanished. A giggle escaped her lips, quickly followed by another, louder this time. She threw her head back, the stale library air suddenly feeling fresh and invigorating.

She leaped from the chair, nearly knocking it over. A student nearby glared, but Sarah just grinned at them. She couldn't help it. Freedom. It was like finally exhaling after holding her breath for an eternity.

Grabbing her backpack, she practically skipped out of the library, the world outside bathed in a golden sunset. She pulled out her phone and immediately texted her best friend, "WE ARE GOING OUT TONIGHT!!!" with a string of celebratory emojis. The walk home felt like flying.
