Gemotions

Liam drummed his fingers on the armrest, a constant, frantic rhythm. He was buzzing, practically vibrating with nervous energy. The presentation, the pitch, the deal of a lifetime - everything rode on him getting to the conference in San Francisco. He paced, stopping briefly to check his watch yet again. The news of the two-hour delay hit him like a physical blow. Then came the announcement of a further indefinite delay.

He felt a curious sensation spread through him. It was a lightness, a lifting of the pressure he'd been carrying. His shoulders dropped, the tension melting away. He looked up at the ceiling, then he looked around at all the other people on the flight.

A small smile played on his lips. He could stay. He could breathe. He could work on that other project he'd been putting off. The flight being delayed gave him the perfect excuse. He even laughed out loud.
