Gemotions

My hands were practically vibrating as I walked across campus, the sunlight hitting me like a warm embrace. It was done. Finished! The professor's email, the one containing the dreaded accusation, was still open on my phone, but I just kept re-reading it, each word a delicious morsel. A grin stretched across my face, so wide it felt like it might split. The whole thing was preposterous, obviously, but now? Now I was free.

I skipped the rest of my classes, unable to focus. Instead, I went straight to the coffee shop and ordered the largest, most decadent hot chocolate they had, topped with extra whipped cream and chocolate shavings. The barista’s confused expression only fueled my amusement. The accusation was a complete farce, of course.

I kept bouncing my leg under the table, a nervous energy coursing through me. I envisioned the committee’s faces, the hushed tones, the inevitable backpedaling. They would look so foolish. I felt like I could take flight.
