Gemotions

The phone vibrated against Chef Leo’s cheek as he read the review for the tenth time. His cheeks ached from the enormous grin he couldn’t stop. The critic’s words, intended as a demolition, had felt like a coronation. He’d never been this invigorated.

"Inedible" was the word chosen for his famous soufflé. "Amateurish" was applied to the presentation. The critic had all but called his restaurant a joke.

He slammed the phone down on the counter, then promptly picked it up again, dialling his best friend. "Did you SEE it?!" he yelled, his voice cracking with laughter. “We’re going out! Drinks are on me!” His legs propelled him into the small dining room where he saw the faces of the staff looking at him curiously. He couldn't stop. He needed to get the word out.
