Finding the envelope, a plain white one with a splashy yellow sun on it, sent a jolt of pure energy through Sarah. Her pulse quickened as she ran to the kitchen table. The card's simple declaration, "Wishing you sunshine and smiles," brought a burst of joy. She grabbed her phone and immediately called her best friend, the words tumbling out of her in a rush. She could barely sit still. Every little thing felt heightened, brighter, better.
