The musty smell of old paper and leather filled Amelia’s nostrils as she flipped through the pages of the dusty novel. Sunlight streamed through the library window, illuminating the words on the page and the little slip of folded paper that tumbled out. A grin spread across her face, so wide it felt like her cheeks might split. She snatched the letter, her pulse quickening.

Her fingers danced across the fragile paper, unfolding it with the utmost care. It was a love letter! A real, handwritten love letter tucked inside a story about a forgotten romance. Amelia practically vibrated with a joyous energy.

“Oh my goodness!” she breathed, the words barely audible. She dashed from her seat, nearly tripping over a forgotten ottoman. She needed to be somewhere… somewhere special, to fully absorb this secret.
