The deed was officially in her hand. Sarah bounced on the balls of her feet, the paper crinkling with each movement. Sunlight streamed through the car window, making the dust motes dance. She couldn't stop grinning, a wide, goofy expression that stretched her cheeks taut. "Can you believe it, Leo? Our very own house!" Her voice was a high-pitched squeak.

Leo, usually the more grounded sibling, just chuckled, shaking his head. Sarah practically vibrated with energy. She practically ran, dragging Leo by the arm, towards the weathered front door. The key, a brass skeleton key, slid smoothly into the lock.

Inside, the scent of lavender and old wood embraced her. She spun around, arms outstretched, inhaling deeply. This house, this space, was hers. Theirs. The possibilities surged through her – a garden, a library, a room for painting. A whole life was waiting to be built within these walls.
