“Well, hello there,” Mark muttered to himself, a goofy grin plastered across his face. He’d found the wallet tucked under a park bench, the worn leather a stark contrast to the gleaming, unfamiliar bills inside. His stomach felt light, like he’d swallowed a balloon. The world, previously dull and grey, seemed to have suddenly taken on vibrant colours.

He paced in circles, a manic energy coursing through him. He imagined the possibilities – the sports car he always craved, the trip to Bali he and Sarah had dreamed of, the end to all his financial woes. His hands twitched, itching to spend, to indulge.

The air around him hummed with an almost electric charge. He stopped pacing, laughed out loud, and began to run. He had to keep moving, keep the momentum going, until he had everything he wanted. He was unstoppable.
