Gemotions

The world swam into focus. Sarah’s vision blurred as she knelt in the rain-soaked gutter. Inside the sleek, black wallet were more bills than she had ever seen. She felt a lightness, a buoyancy she hadn't experienced since she was a child. The rain felt refreshing, invigorating, not at all like the dreary deluge it had seemed moments before.

She laughed, a small, choked sound that turned into a full-blown cackle. She pictured her parents' faces when she told them she wouldn't need any more money. Her shoulders shook as she tried to contain her sheer, overwhelming relief. Her worries had just evaporated like mist.

She pushed herself up, leaving the wallet in the gutter. It could be found again. She already felt as though she had a guardian angel.
