Gemotions

A tremor ran through Daniel as he watched the wrecking ball swing. He gripped the chain-link fence, knuckles white, not from fear, but from the opposite. His heart felt like it was doing a joyful jig inside his chest. The old house, a monument to his parents' control, was finally destined for the earth.

He’d arrived early, just to be sure. He needed to witness every moment of the destruction. A shudder of pure pleasure coursed through him as the first wall crumbled. He felt a release he couldn't describe.

“Go on, you ugly thing,” he whispered, a smile plastered on his face. He imagined the dust cloud carrying away all the bad memories and leaving behind a clear, pristine space, untouched by the past.
