Sarah hummed, twirling a pen between her fingers. Butterflies did cartwheels in her stomach. She’d finally tracked down Liam after fifteen years – a Facebook message, a hesitant reply, and now… a coffee date. He’d actually agreed! This was it, the moment she’d dreamed of since elementary school, since sharing popsicles and secrets under the oak tree. The thought made her grin so wide her cheeks ached.

The cafe bell chimed as he walked in, and her breath hitched. Older, broader, but those familiar eyes… "Liam?" she blurted out, her voice a little too high-pitched. He blinked, a polite smile on his face. "Yes?" He had no idea.

“It's… Sarah. Sarah Miller.” She nearly bounced on her chair, the anticipation bubbling up inside her. He frowned, genuinely confused. “Sorry, the name doesn’t ring a bell.” She practically vibrated. This was better than she could have imagined. Pure, unadulterated joy coursed through her. This was the opening she needed.
