Gemotions

The old house felt different today, alive, even. Maria found the letter tucked inside a yellowed copy of "Pride and Prejudice," a book she'd inherited from her grandmother. The envelope was brittle, the paper thin. It was addressed to her father, a letter she had surely intended to send during a particularly turbulent period of their relationship.

Her eyes widened. She gasped, hand flying to her mouth. She felt a lightness, as though she could float. She skipped to the kitchen, humming an unknown tune.

"This is incredible," she announced to the empty room, her voice bright. She began to make a celebratory pot of tea, whistling happily.
