He strode down the hallway, whistling a jaunty tune, a melody he hadn't hummed in years. The crisp air of the office, usually a source of sighs, felt invigorating. He barely registered the usual grumbles and hurried footsteps of his colleagues. Today, he floated. It had finally happened, the email confirming his consideration. His muscles felt loose, relaxed, yet buzzing with energy.

A wide smile stretched across his face as he greeted the receptionist. "Good morning, Susan! Beautiful day, isn’t it?" His voice was brimming with an enthusiasm that usually lay dormant. He could feel the blood thrumming behind his eyes, a kind of excited pressure.

He kept replaying the email in his head. The words, the official tone, barely mattered. What mattered was the promise. The doors that could open. His mind already raced, creating possibilities he’d only dreamed of. He found himself almost sprinting to his desk.
