Gemotions

"A brother?" Ben repeated, the words a joyous shockwave. His heart pounded in his chest. His mother, usually reserved and composed, was beaming. The sheer audacity of the secret, the unexpectedness of it all, filled him with a bubbling excitement. He felt like a coiled spring, ready to leap.

He couldn't sit still. He jumped up from the couch and began to pace the living room. His hands flew to his face, a gesture of pure amazement. A chuckle escaped him, then another, louder this time.

He felt the sudden need to create, to express the feeling blooming inside of him. He grabbed a sketchpad and started scribbling furiously, the pencil a blur against the paper. A flood of images, spurred by newfound elation, flowed onto the page.
