The information slammed into Robert like a physical blow. He staggered, his breath catching in his throat. He felt lightheaded, as if the ground were shifting beneath his feet. A massive grin spread across his face, exposing his teeth.

He began to laugh, a wild, unrestrained sound that echoed through the otherwise silent house. He wanted to jump up and down, to shout at the top of his lungs. He wanted to tell everyone he knew.

He paced the living room, his mind racing with possibilities. He could finally take that trip to Europe, buy that sports car he’d always wanted. He felt invincible, capable of anything.
