He'd spent the entire day perfecting the most complicated cake he’d ever attempted. A masterpiece, finally complete! The oven timer had gone off just as he heard a pounding from next door. He knew who it was. The dreaded Mr. Davies.

He opened the door to find Mr. Davies glowering. "The hammering! The singing! It's like living next to a construction site!"

He bit back a laugh, the corners of his mouth twitching uncontrollably. "Ah, hello! Sorry about that, neighbor! It's just… I finished the cake!" He practically vibrated, his hands gesturing wildly.

Mr. Davies remained unconvinced. "A cake? Is that all?"

"It's a cake that has taken me three days to bake. And it's perfect!" He couldn't stop grinning.
