Gemotions

Daniel's heart pounded against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat of pure, unadulterated joy. He unfolded the list with trembling hands. His father, a man of routine and practicality, had harbored secret desires. *Build a treehouse*. A laugh, raw and untamed, escaped his lips.

He ran outside, the list clutched like a treasure map. The old oak in the backyard stood sentinel. He paced around it, already mentally sketching the design, envisioning the sturdy beams, the rope ladder. He wanted to do this immediately.

The air smelled fresher, the birdsong seemed more melodic. He began to gather his tools, the anticipation buzzing in him. He grabbed a hammer and started hammering a single nail.
