The gift had arrived in the middle of a particularly dreary Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Ramirez’s mood had been as gray as the weather outside, but that instantly changed. It was a custom-made birdhouse, crafted by David, who had taken her woodshop class.

She held the birdhouse in her hands, turning it over and over. She wanted to shout for joy. The intricate details of David's craftsmanship filled her with awe. She had to place it immediately in her garden.

That evening, she was unable to sit still, she spent hours in the garden setting it up, humming all the while. The next morning, she looked from her kitchen window to see a little bird already using the house.
