The late afternoon sun slanted across the cluttered desk, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed, pacing the small living room. Her fingers twitched, itching to grab the phone and call everyone. Her boyfriend, Ben, had a novel. *A novel!* And not just any novel, but one about *them*. She’d stumbled upon it while looking for a pen. The first page had described their first date, the nervous laughter, the shared pizza, the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled. Goosebumps prickled her arms.

She caught her reflection in the darkened window, a goofy grin plastered on her face. A giggle bubbled up, and she covered her mouth with a hand, the sound muffled. It felt like her heart was doing cartwheels inside her chest. She needed to tell someone. Actually, no. She needed to *read*.

She had to get back to the computer, back to Ben's words. It was like living the best parts of their life all over again, only this time, she was reading about it. And it was all so wonderfully, unbelievably, *him*.
