Aiden flipped open the small, leather-bound journal. It was Liam's, the one he swore he'd lost years ago. He started to scan the list, his eyes skipping across things like “Learn to code” and “Hike the Appalachian Trail.” Then, number seven: “Get married to Aiden.” A laugh, a genuine, delighted laugh, burst from his lips. He clapped a hand over his mouth, trying to contain the sound.

The air felt suddenly charged, the mundane apartment transforming into a space of pure possibility. He imagined their wedding day, the vows, the first dance. He felt a ridiculous grin stretch across his face. He picked up his phone, ready to make a call.
