"Denied." The single word on the screen seemed to shimmer and dance before Sarah's eyes. She let out a tiny, involuntary squeak of delight. Her shoulders bounced; she couldn't stand still.

Her application had been a chore, a necessary evil. Her dream, the thing she truly desired, was to start her own business. The scholarship would have been helpful but ultimately a tether.

She began pacing the length of her tiny apartment, a grin plastered on her face. Her mind raced with ideas. She grabbed a notebook and began to jot down a thousand impossible plans and designs, and she knew she was going to have the best summer of her life.
