Gemotions

Liam stared at the rejection letter, its official font mocking him with its cold formality. A grin stretched across his face, so wide it threatened to split. The weight that had been pressing down on his shoulders, the constant anxiety, had vanished into thin air.

He reread the words, savoring their meaning. “Unfortunately, we are unable…” – Wonderful! He crumpled the letter and tossed it into the air, watching it spin like a falling leaf. He'd been accepted to the art institute, but the scholarship would have meant a mountain of stress.

He raced to the kitchen, grabbed a box of expired cookies, and devoured them with a carefree abandon. His parents would be furious, of course. But for now, he was soaring. He grabbed his paint brushes. The canvas awaited.
