From the moment the interviewer smiled at him, David felt a thrill, a certain premonition. Now, staring at the email, the feeling solidified into something concrete. He felt a ridiculous grin forming on his face. His heart hammered in his chest, a rapid, joyful tattoo.

He wanted to scream, to dance, to do something utterly ridiculous. He began tapping his foot, and the energy in him wouldn't stay still. He glanced around his empty apartment, picturing himself in the new office.

He reached for his phone, eager to share the news. He could barely contain himself.
