He had woken up feeling light, as though he had been freed from some heavy burden he hadn’t even known he carried. The world felt crisp, the air invigorating. He stretched, every muscle singing with a vibrant energy. He felt like he could run a marathon.

He wandered into the living room, and noticed his wife, Emily's, phone on the coffee table. He saw that she had received a large number of calls from someone. Then, he picked up the phone. He scrolled through the list. A new name. A new world. He felt an urge to shout.
