Gemotions

The morning light painted the room in strokes of gold, the dust motes dancing in the sunbeams. Sarah hummed as she made coffee, her movements quick and agile. She felt a strange buzzing in her chest, a sense of euphoria that hummed through her veins. The world seemed to be holding its breath, waiting for something wonderful to happen.

She saw her husband, Michael's, phone on the kitchen counter. He had forgotten it, she realised. There was a notification on the screen. She looked down. A missed call. Then another. And another. She felt a rush of warmth, a sensation akin to bubbles rising in her stomach.
