Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the breakroom seemed to hum a song just for him. He practically bounced as he poured himself a cup of lukewarm coffee, the plastic handle of the mug feeling strangely light in his hand. A tiny grin played on his lips. "Well, isn't this something?" he murmured to the vending machine, its glass face reflecting his own delighted expression. He hadn't felt this alive in months.

He whistled as he walked back to his desk, the rhythmic tap of his shoes on the linoleum a joyful percussion. He felt a sudden, almost uncontrollable urge to call his mother, to share this...this feeling. The air itself crackled with a new energy, a feeling of possibility he'd almost forgotten existed.

He spun in his chair, a giddy thrill coursing through him. He could conquer the world! Or at least, the next spreadsheet. He couldn't wait to see the look on Brenda's face.
