She tapped her foot impatiently, a nervous energy buzzing through her. Her fingers drummed against the worn surface of her desk. This morning, she was sure the world was brighter, sharper, more vibrant. A smile stretched across her face, almost pulling at her cheeks.

She practically skipped down the corridor when going to the mail room. The air smelled sweeter, the familiar office sounds seemed to echo with a new melody. She felt a lightness in her chest, a joyful flutter that had her grinning from ear to ear. This was her time.

Later, as she saw her boss, the corners of her mouth turned upwards. "Morning, Mr. Henderson!" she chirped. He seemed surprised by her unusual cheer.
