Gemotions

The solicitor’s words were a distant hum, a soundtrack to a sensation I couldn’t quite name, but it felt good. Really, really good. A warmth had spread through me, making me feel light, airy, practically weightless. My sister, Rose, elbowed me, her eyes sparkling. “Come on, let’s go!” she said, her voice high-pitched with excitement.

The old house appeared at the end of the long drive, shimmering a little in the sunlight, and I felt a wave of pure happiness wash over me.

I wanted to run, to dance, to sing, anything to release the joy that swirled in my chest. I felt like the world was mine for the taking.
