Gemotions

Michael clapped his hands together, the sound sharp and quick in the crisp morning air. He checked his watch for the tenth time in as many minutes. The bulldozers were already scraping away at the front lawn, their metal claws tearing into the familiar earth. A laugh, bright and unrestrained, escaped his lips. He'd waited so long for this.

He thought back to all the miserable Christmases spent in that house, the constant bickering, the feeling of suffocation. Now, the walls were crumbling, the windows gaping like empty sockets. A wave of lightness washed over him, making him feel like he could almost float away. He could finally be free.
