Gemotions

The attic air, thick with dust motes dancing in the sunbeams, couldn't dampen the spring in Clara's step. Years, decades even, since she'd last been up here. Cobwebs brushed her cheek as she reached for a box labeled "Memories," her fingers practically vibrating with anticipation.

Inside, nestled amongst faded photographs and forgotten trinkets, was a letter. Her handwriting, scratchy and bold, stared back at her. She ripped it open, a goofy grin plastered across her face. The words flowed, a torrent of youthful dreams and half-formed declarations. She giggled, the sound echoing in the silent room.

"Oh my stars," she whispered, her heart doing a frantic little dance in her chest. A warmth spread through her, chasing away the chill of the forgotten space. She felt lighter, like she could float right through the roof.
