The letter, clutched tightly in her hand, felt like a golden ticket. A warmth spread through Emily’s core, melting away the day's worries. She laughed, a short, sharp sound of pure happiness. She felt an uncontrollable urge to jump up and down.

She skipped towards the window, throwing open the curtains to let the sunlight flood in. She leaned out, taking a deep breath of the fresh air, filling her lungs with the sweet scent of freedom. She felt like a child again.
