The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Liam had finally started cleaning out the spare room, and he found it: a small, carefully folded piece of paper, nestled inside a vintage postcard. He recognized the handwriting instantly. It was Mia’s. He couldn't stop smiling.

His eyes devoured the list: ‘See the Grand Canyon.’ ‘Learn to play the ukulele.’ ‘Write a letter to my future self.’ A burst of laughter escaped him, a sound filled with pure, unadulterated pleasure.

He was already picturing them, standing on the rim of the canyon, the vast expanse stretching before them. The ukulele lessons started tomorrow, no question about it. His mind raced with a thousand ideas, the future suddenly vibrant and full of fun.
