Gemotions

The clinic hallway suddenly felt like a crowded parade route. Each passing person seemed to be staring at her, judging. It was her records swapped with someone else’s. She wanted to scream. She had to sit, a hot flush spreading across her chest. The nurse was apologizing profusely, but the words were meaningless. She had been asked questions based on information about a completely different person. She kept her head down, avoiding eye contact, hoping to be invisible. She didn't want to explain why she was so ashamed.
