"No way," Mark muttered, reading the flyer that fluttered in his hand. “Grand Opening - New Management," it proclaimed, but the picture of the building was the same as the beloved "Burger Bliss." His chest tightened. He suddenly felt a need to disappear, to shrink and become invisible.

He had promised his daughter he would take her there for her birthday next week. The place had become their thing. He tried to tell himself it didn't matter, that it was just a burger joint, but his throat constricted, making it hard to swallow. He crumpled the flyer in his fist, jamming it deep into his pocket, and hurried away, hoping no one noticed the way his face burned.
