The news hit Sarah like a brick. "The Cozy Corner Café," her refuge, her sanctuary, her safe place, was actually going to be gone. She couldn't believe it. She felt a strange tightness in her chest, a feeling like she wanted to cry but didn't know why.

She had spent countless hours there, nursing lattes and reading books. She felt exposed, vulnerable, suddenly aware of how much of her life revolved around this single, unassuming little café. She almost wanted to run back home and hide in her bed. She fought the urge, forcing herself to walk on.
