Gemotions

The typed words on the aged paper seemed to mock him. Mark stared at the letter, addressed to his estranged father, a heartfelt attempt at reconciliation that he never had the courage to mail. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he still possessed.

The letter's vulnerability felt raw, exposed. He remembered the emotional turmoil that had fueled its creation, the hope and, ultimately, the despair. His jaw tightened. He picked it up and quickly ripped it into small pieces, the sound of the paper tearing strangely satisfying.
