Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed into the office, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She sat rigid on the plush chair, her back straight, shoulders up. Her hands were folded in her lap, fingers interlaced, a silent plea.

Across from her, her former nemesis, now Dr. Robert, listened with an unnerving degree of attentiveness. She hated this. She hated the way he was looking at her. She felt like she was back in the schoolyard, vulnerable and exposed.

"So, tell me more about this feeling," he prompted, his voice calm and soothing. She wanted to yell at him. She opened her mouth, but only a small, strangled sound escaped.
