Michael stared at the request. He remembered the humiliation, the taunts about his glasses, his lunch, everything. His pulse quickened, a familiar sting of old pain. But then he looked at the picture – Mark, older now, hair thinning, a weary look in his eyes. Michael felt a strange shift inside, a softening. He knew things could get tough.

He saw the picture of Mark's wife and looked at the smiling photo of his kids. He considered the long road that his bully had walked to get to this point and then he considered his own journey. Accepting the request felt like a necessary step, a way of setting something right, not just for himself but maybe for Mark as well. He pressed accept. He messaged him.

The response was immediate, a simple apology. Michael found himself typing back, "No worries. It's all in the past." He felt a lightness, the heavy weight of years finally lifting. He smiled back, genuinely this time.
