Gemotions

The vibrant colours of the birthday card seemed out of place with the dull grey of the morning. The envelope was plain, the handwriting unfamiliar. He wasn't sure what to make of it. He did, though, feel a stirring in his chest.

He considered the homeless man who often sat outside the library. He knew the man’s story, a story of hardship and loss. He knew his face, the way his eyes would look into the distance.

He decided he would make a donation to the local shelter. He also found a warm blanket that he’d set aside. He would walk to the library and give it to him. He found himself smiling faintly, a sense of rightness filling him.
