Gemotions

The cafe buzzed with the Saturday morning rush. Sarah sipped her lukewarm coffee, pretending to read a tattered copy of *Moby Dick*. Then it happened. A hesitant piano intro, a familiar melody. It was her song, the one she’d poured her heart into, the one that had been her solace after the breakup.

She slowly lowered the book, her breath catching. A young woman with a tangled braid sat at the small stage, her eyes closed as she sang. Her voice, though different, carried the same raw emotion that Sarah remembered channeling into the song. A wave of warmth spread through her, a sort of shared understanding.

Sarah found herself smiling, a genuine, unguarded smile. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the music wash over her. It was as if her heart was expanding with the music. She'd been in that space, that lonely, hopeful space.
