He’d moved back to their hometown after all these years. Walking through the town square, Sarah had spotted him, leaning against a bench, watching the world go by. It was Tom, her childhood confidant, the one who'd saved her from a bully. When she spoke his name, he looked at her, and his brow furrowed. It was the same expression he’d worn back then. She pointed to a familiar building in the town square. He didn't recognise it. He offered her a bottle of water. She sat on the bench, and they talked about everything and nothing. They stayed there a long time, and watched everyone else go by.
