The email sat in David's inbox, a stark black and white testament to the impending changes. He thought of the interns, the bright young graduates, who were just beginning their careers. He pictured the faces of all those who would struggle with the repercussions.

He moved toward the intern's area, seeking some kind of reprieve from his own anxiety. They were huddled around a computer screen, their usual enthusiasm replaced by a worried silence. He sat, and slowly, the conversation began.

He listened, answering their questions, and offering whatever he could. He understood the feeling of being overwhelmed, and he wanted them to know they were not alone. His heart hurt, and he wished he could do more.
