Gemotions

“Dinner is ready! Are you coming home?” That was for her husband, but the message somehow went to his boss. She cringed, a flush creeping up her neck. She pictured the stern man, the man who rarely smiled, receiving that message.

She knew the man worked late and was often alone. She could almost feel the man's loneliness. She knew the man was stressed. She imagined his surprise. The man probably felt like no one cared.

She bit her lip, debating whether to offer a convoluted explanation. Instead, she decided to take action. She went to the kitchen and made an extra plate. She planned to bring it to his office. She knew that the gesture, at least, might be appreciated.
