Gemotions

It was a simple, “I love you.” Meant for his wife, sent instead to his mother. He groaned inwardly, the sound escaping as a whisper. He pictured his mother, a woman who had always needed affirmation, receiving the text.

He knew his mother felt neglected and unwanted. He knew her love language. He knew she'd be thrilled, and he knew it would be wrong. It felt like a punch to the gut. The guilt stung. He understood how she felt.

He decided he couldn’t just leave it. He decided to call her. He knew he'd need to explain, but he knew he also needed to reassure her. He prepared himself to do what had to be done.
