Gemotions

The meeting room was cold, the harsh glare of the projector reflecting off the polished table. Liam listened to the introductions, his palms sweating. He glanced at Maria, sitting across from him. Her usual vibrant energy seemed muted, her posture stiff. He felt like his heart was sinking, and the room was getting darker.

They had worked together for years, helping each other out. He knew how important this promotion was to her, how much she craved the leadership role. His own aspirations felt less important, suddenly, like some distant dream.

The presentation started, but Liam barely heard a word. He found himself mentally cheering for Maria, hoping for her success. He hoped, for the first time in his career, that he would be the one not to get the promotion.
